About Me

My photo
Carmel, Indiana, United States
Meredith (Saad) Loughmiller was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She went to Indiana University where she majored in Elementary Education and took a series of fine arts and photography courses. After graduating, Meredith taught in Chicago Public Schools for 8 years. After 9 years in the Windy City she moved to Carmel, Indiana to settle down with her young family. Following a few years as a stay-at-home mom, Meredith embarked on something for herself utilizing many skills and talents that sat dormant for too long! Lo and behold: ml photography. Although Meredith continues to enjoy staying home with her three children, ML Photography has been a successful endeavor for four years now!

Let it Snow

This family braved it out in the cold this past Wednesday to do a mini session in the snow!  Snow is just another beautiful part of nature that calls to be photographed, so it's especially fun to use it in portraits.

Mom did a great job leading the session and with their "winter wardrobe" by throwing in just a pop of color with their black winter coats.  These boys (dad included) kept their charm and never complained!

Caught this randomly and it's probably my favorite from the session

I love how mom tied in green to their outfits and yet everyone kept bundled up in neutral black coats.  GREAT idea.

my favorite

handsome devils (except that they're not devils)

These big smiles are my fave

This is how they stood on their own... I love that.

Getting into the Christmas Spirit

This lovely lady wanted to try something different for their holiday photos this year!  We met in downtown Carmel and took advantage of the giant Christmas tree and Santa's house.  We started at dusk and ended at dark… the only trouble is we missed the whole family shot at DARK with the lights (because by then the boys were well into munching on some lollypops), but I still like what we got overall!  I'm glad we captured mom's little baby bump too!  That's the type of thing you appreciate years later when you show that particular child photos.

It's always tough the first time shooting at a new place, but I would shoot at this location again in a heartbeat.  It was fun for everyone and I'm anxious to try new things here!

I couldn't decide which picture here I liked better (B&W or Color)… and actually my flash didn't fire (which is ironic bc I don't like flash photography very much anyway), so it looks entirely different and I like this picture!

Architecture for an Architect

What do you do when the landscape isn't as lush anymore and yet you want a pretty setting?  Think Architecture.  I've always loved the Palladium in Carmel and all the buildings around it.  I really had to force myself to zoom in on the family here and let some of the beautiful architecture go!  Mom was an architect before she decided to stay home with her kids, which makes this session even better for them.  I love working with this family... you've seen them plenty.

I am offering mini sessions through the winter if we can catch some days (such as this one last weekend) that aren't too frigid.  You'll notice that my mini-sessions typically focus on one major priority, in this case it was the whole family shot.

I just thought I'd include this picture and the one below to show that I give both landscape and portrait versions of the same photo a lot.  It's something that I've always appreciated myself when it comes to displaying photos in my own home.

How cool is this shot?  They were positioned just perfectly.

...and that's a wrap!

Hidey Ho Neighbor

Yep, that's right, this cute family lives right next door to us.  After mom built my website (which is still not complete because I'm updating my portfolio for her).  I was FINALLY able to photograph them professionally :)  If you like my website when it's up and running remember this lovely lady!  She is one of the hardest working people I've met and her family is simply adorable.

The subsequent photo was of a bunch of leaves mid air obviously.. I almost posted it

Now… some of the head shots I took for this busy working mom.
